Ginseng likes a cool climate. When the temperature climbs, the leaves dry out and growth stops — that is heat damage. The key indicator here is VPD (vapour pressure deficit).
- What is VPD? A figure for the difference between how much water vapour the air could hold and how much it is holding now.
- Why does it matter? When VPD gets too high, the plant closes its stomata to avoid losing moisture. Photosynthesis stops, and eventually the plant dies.
